If you’ve been following our 2021 and 2022 online and live conference campaign you’ll know that we’re getting close to the end. There are just 4 days left at the time of writing this blog post for you to sign up. We’re thrilled to announce some exciting new topics for the online course which starts in March 2021.

Show me the good stuff…

On top of the sessions that we’ve already announced (head on over to the campaign page to see them), we have added these sessions:

20 Years. The Story of LiveCode

(Beginners & Advanced course)
With LiveCode (Revolution) version 1.0 having shipped 20 years ago this year, our CEO Kevin Miller celebrates this major anniversary by telling the story of LiveCode since the early days. He will tell tales of creating the platform in a small flat in Edinburgh, the many significant events and milestones, significant moments for our team members and our customers. This session will be filled with personal stories, successes, nail biting moments and even the disasters. This is the untold story from behind the scenes. If LiveCode has been a part of your life for much or even all of this time, then this is a session absolutely not to be missed! Join our CEO and celebrate 20 years since v1.0.

A Business App from Scratch – Best Practices

(Advanced course)
Two members of our team recently had the opportunity to develop a new client server business application from scratch using LiveCode as part of a service project. In this session they explore all the best practices for how to go about structuring building an application of this scale from scratch. Topics include using Levure and GitHub to manage team members working on the source code, choosing and designing the database, creating templates for the UI and structuring secure client-server communication. This session is a great opportunity to learn from the pros before you create your next big LiveCode project.

Games Night – LiveCode edition

(Advanced course)
Work and Play time are combined in this special edition of Games night. In this collaborative session we invite you to send in any games you have created or indeed create specifically for this session. Together we will spend a bit of time playing each game and discussing the code behind the game. All game stacks will be shared with all participants so you can play along and learn from the code written. Prizes will be on offer for the best game as voted by the session participants.

LiveCode Engine Hackathon

(Advanced course)
Ahead of this session we will invite you to vote on a list of features you would like added to the LiveCode engine. The feature with the most votes will not only go into the engine for your benefit, we will show you how we did it in this LiveCode Engine Hackathon session. Take another step along your journey to becoming a LiveCode Engineer!

Taking the dread out DataGrid (again)

(Advanced course)
The DataGrid! It’s an immensely powerful feature, but even the most seasoned LiveCoder may break out in a sweat when it is mentioned. Yet it doesn’t need to be so. The day DataGrid no longer gives you that sinking feeling you know you are in a good place! In this session we will look through some of the most useful DataGrid features including the latest features added in our DataGrid2 project. You will be building beautiful lists with native like bounce and swipe animations in no time!

Building for AI and the Cloud

(Advanced course)
In this session we will demonstrate some solutions to the technical challenges involved in creating an AI based cloud app deployed to multiple platforms. We’ll talk about how to integrate Python AI libraries, structure an app to allow it to perform multiple processing operations in the background, server setup and much more.

Understanding And Using REST APIs

(Advanced course)
If you’ve ever investigated getting data from a source on the internet such as Twitter or GitHub you’ve probably come across Rest APIs. In this session we will guide you through everything you need to know about using Rest APIs in your project. From being able to read API documentation correctly to implementing it into your LiveCode project. Rest easy – all sessions will be recorded so you can come back to it again and again.

HTML5 – Hands on with the Next Generation of the Technology

(Advanced course)
We have made significant advancements in our HTML5 technology and we are excited to share that with you. Expect demos, expect performance gains, expect feature improvements.

Zoom Coffee Breaks with our Team

(Beginners & Advanced course)
We’ve already announced that we will be having Zoom breaks during these live sessions but what we haven’t announced is most of our team will be joining in these sessions. Expect to find Mark, Kevin, Michael, Ali, Elanor, Panos and many more in these break sessions. We love chatting with you at the live events and we hope these Zoom coffee breaks will give us all that opportunity to do that again soon. First one starts in March (next month).

4 days left to bring this to life…

We think that’s an exciting list of topics, what do you think? At the time of writing this post we have 4 days left to bring these events to life. If you want to get involved in our Beginners course, Advanced course or live Conference (or all 3) head on over to our campaign page and select the ticket option that best suits you. Together we can make 2021 and 2022 a great year for LiveCode and the LiveCode community. Thank you for your continued support. See you in Zoom next month 🙂
