It’s really not about us.

The Covid-19 LiveCode Impact Fund isn’t really about saving the jobs of the LiveCode Team and protecting the LiveCode platform. It’s about Tom*, Bob and Sarah.

Sarah lost her job due to Covid-19. She’s watching her partner work 14 hour days from their kitchen, holding down a job and working on a LiveCode app in his “spare” time. That LiveCode app is a potential better future for them. He loves LiveCode for its productivity and cross platform capability. Sarah contacted us to ask if we could send him a tshirt for his birthday (we can, but please don’t all ask, we only have a couple left!)

This impact fund is about Tom. Tom was working full time as well as on a new health tech startup in his spare time with LiveCode. He recently had to approach us about canceling his license because he couldn’t afford his renewal as he found himself jobless. The development of his product and future startup he has been working on for nearly a year was at risk. We need Tom. We kept his license active and he has been able to keep making progress with the development of his product.

It’s also about Bob. Bob has a successful business that relies on a regularly updated and stable version of LiveCode. He approached us to raise his concerns about the impact a smaller LiveCode team would have on his business. Fewer product updates and reduced testing capacity would directly impact Bob’s business. We really don’t want to go there.

We’ve been having many a difficult conversation with people approaching us with similar scenarios over the past few months. As you may imagine LiveCode supports many new entrepreneurs trying to build new businesses as well as existing business owners running successful businesses. An impact to these businesses on a personal level is soul destroying, we can’t be a contributing factor to the failure of these businesses.

Covid-19 has been and is still devastating. For so many this pandemic has taken loved ones away, it has destroyed jobs and it has left the world in need of recovery. For those who have been less affected we have a part to play in that recovery.

The Covid-19 LiveCode Impact Fund is about much more than just saving the jobs of the LiveCode Team and protecting the LiveCode platform. Helping us reach 100% in the campaign is contributing to the recovery of the economy. It’s ensuring Tom and Sarah’s partner who are discovering the platform for the first time have a great chance of succeeding because they have access to the latest updates and a well tested high quality product. It’s ensuring we can continue to support Bob and others like him in being able to bring their customers the very best software they can. We need to make sure LiveCode is there to play its part in all of this.

It’s not about us.

If you can, support the campaign today. We all need you.
