LiveCode’s Transformative Impact on Mental Health Advocacy and David Glasgow’s Psychology Career.
David Glasgow is a psychologist with a passion for helping children and vulnerable adults find their voice. Alongside his colleagues, David developed a remarkable software called In My Shoes, which provides a vital platform for individuals to express their thoughts on the mental challenges they face. This innovative program has made a difference to many, enabling the reporting of trauma, abuse, illnesses, and mental health concerns with greater efficiency and impact.
What led you to begin using LiveCode?
Initially available exclusively on Mac, the software faced resistance from institutions that predominantly used other platforms, such as Windows. Determined to reach a wider audience, David did some research, leading him to the discovery of LiveCode and our transformative cross-platform development tools.

How challenging was the transition to LiveCode for David and his team?
After doing some research David suggested LiveCode to his lead developer Phil Jimmieson who after playing around with the tool for a while managed to swiftly create a multi-platform version of In My Shoes, overcoming the complexities of the program thanks to LiveCode’s user-friendly nature.

Was switching to LiveCode the right decision for your project in the long term?
Over time more possibilities have been added to LiveCode. This evolution meant that David Glasgow and his team could expand on the features already popular in In My Shoes and eventually create standalone apps based on these. So now they have a robust toolkit of cross-platform tools which aid in their work of child assessment and psychology. LiveCode isn’t just limited to English speaking countries either. After the success of In My Shoes David’s goal was to make the service more accessible so he took it internationally. There are now versions of the program in British Sign Language, Turkish, Swedish, Norwegian and Spanish!
Have you continued to use LiveCode in your life since?
Even today David continues to use LiveCode in his everyday life and psychology career to help with general tasks. He doesn’t need a developer for this as the beauty of LiveCode lies in its user-friendly interface, allowing users without extensive coding expertise to create customized programs that address their specific needs. At the same time, experienced programmers like Phil can pick up the tool and learn how to build intricate systems capable of serving thousands of users in record time.
