We are pleased to announce the release of LiveCode 9.6.5. This is the full stable release, ready for you to use with your deployed apps.

You can find the release in your LiveCode account area or get it via the automatic updater. This replaces 9.6.4 as the current official stable release of LiveCode and will appear at the top of your list of downloads.
We’re really excited to bring Web up to a first class citizen in LiveCode 10. Our goal is that you’ll be able to use cards, stacks and the LiveCode language almost anywhere you might previously have needed JavaScript. We’ve learned from past incarnations of LiveCode on the web what we need to do so you can quickly create an amazing experience with your web apps.
Some of the changes here will have major benefits for LiveCode on all platforms. We’ll come back and talk about some of that in a moment. First though, I want to highlight a number of things you can do in our first developer preview of 10 on the Web, today.

Release Contents
LiveCode 10.0.0 DP-1 comes with several bug fixes and some amazing new features:
Web deployment now uses WebAssembly
The WebAssembly engine is smaller, and substantially faster than the previous asm.js version. Our benchmarking has this showing as typically around 4X faster. In addition, moving to this new architecture means that the wait command now works – along with any engine functionality which internally uses wait-like functionality. Lots of LiveCode-built applications use this internally so this feature means they will all run fine in a browser.
Education is a vitally important part of what LiveCode offers. We believe there is no other environment available that measures up to what it can provide in an educational setting, especially for older children and young adults. To help students realise their full potential in this area, we have just signed up a new partner in education.
Tekkie Uni and LiveCode
I’m incredibly excited today to be able to introduce Tekkie Uni, our brand new LiveCode Official Partner for Education Ages 10-17. Tekkie Uni are a well established educational content provider with an impressive pedigree, running a phenomenal series of online courses to teach App Development for Kids. This entire course is based on LiveCode and is available at three levels. Unlike many other online training courses, Tekkie Uni teach students in small classes with a live teacher in each and every class. Tekkie Uni also offer online teacher training courses and licensed curriculum materials for schools. We’re delighted to be able to offer both the online App Development courses and the teacher training and curriculum materials to you on behalf of Tekkie Uni.
I’m delighted to be able to report back on more of what we have planned for LiveCode 10. Recent changes at LiveCode have meant that we have been able to scale up our LiveCode development team. New engineers will be moving to or joining that team from next week and give us the biggest team we’ve ever had working on LiveCode in our 20 year history. We’re all super excited about what this means for the LiveCode platform.Â
In case you missed it, our next LiveCode conference is happening live, on the ground, in New York City next April. Learn more about it and get tickets here.
We’re just starting to put together an action packed schedule, here are some of the sessions and speakers we have already confirmed:
Mark Waddingham: Where Next for LiveCode Technology?
Mark will tell us a little about his work with the LiveCode engine over the past few months and where he envisions it going next. As always, prepare to be dazzled by the extraordinary things that go on behind the scenes and in the mind of our CTO.
About Mark Waddingham: Mark is the Director of Technology and the driving force behind every LiveCode release. He is intimately involved in planning and operations at LiveCode, with jobs ranging from coding the engine, planning future directions and working on backend infrastructure to supporting the LiveCode development team.
We are pleased to announce the release of LiveCode 9.6.5 RC-1.
