Mac Sonoma – Initial Beta Support

We’re pleased to say that today we are releasing a build of LiveCode 9.6.9 with a hotfix backported into it, to allow it to open and run on the Beta Mac OS Sonoma.

While we do not usually backport bug fixes into a stable release, we would like as many people as possible to be able to test LiveCode on Sonoma before this is fully released. Since to date LiveCode would not even open in Sonoma, this fix is needed to allow us to see if there are any other issues with compatibility we need to address.

If you already have LiveCode 9.6.9 downloaded, and you want to test on Sonoma, please delete your existing download to avoid any confusion, then download again from your account.

This is the only fix in this release, so if you are not running on Sonoma there is no need to download a fresh copy.

This fix will of course be incorporated in the upcoming releases of LiveCode 9.6.10 and 10 dp-6.

I have no earthly idea what “hot fix backport” means but I am thrilled you are giving us a version we can test on Sonoma now. Thanks!

It means that we have made this change to the currently shipping, stable version of LiveCode, instead of to a test release which would not get into a stable version for some time. Its an unusual thing for us to do, but we felt it was the right call.

LC is running on Sonoma, but to deploy iOS Apps I need Xcode 15 beta which is not supported.
