LiveCode + Covid-19

These are strange and difficult times. Thanks to COVID-19 we at LiveCode Ltd. are all now working from home, and staying together as a company via Zoom and Slack.

I’m sure many of you are in the same boat, quarantined or semi-quarantined, and trying to keep going without the usual levels of face to face support and company. We’ve been talking about how we can all support each other during this time. We have come up with two options.

Stay Home – Learn to Code

We are fully aware that people across the world are having to stay home, some are fortunate enough to be able to keep their jobs or businesses and some have not been so fortunate. We want to give people the opportunity to learn a new skill or perhaps even start a new career. While this crisis is ongoing we are going to make the first year of LiveCode Indy available to brand new users from free to full price. You can pay whatever you want or can afford. No judgment. We have an incredible community of users here at LiveCode who will welcome you with open arms and help you along your coding journey…

Lockdown Learning Series

Over the years there have been many incredible LiveCode sessions delivered at our Live developer conferences and our online courses. The type of sessions you just don’t want to end, or the ones when they do end you just want to grab your computer, start up LiveCode and put that learning into practice. Right now more than ever we are all looking for the best content to consume and longing for that feeling of community spirit. The Lockdown Learning series delivers on both these things. We have been trawling through the archives looking for the very best sessions that are still very much relevant today and we are streaming them live with a LiveCode expert on hand to answer questions, twice a week starting on 9th June. We’ve uncovered golden sessions from RunRevLive 2008 all the way through to the LiveCode Developer Conference last year in California.

We’re covering everything from basic beginners building blocks to theoretical coding concepts and everything in between. At the end of each session, someone from The LiveCode team will talk you through what may have changed over the years and show you any new best practices. They will also be there to answer any of your questions on the session. Even if you attended these sessions the first time around you will be amazed at how much great coding tips you’ve forgotten. We were amazed at how much we had forgotten. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed going through our archives and handpicking the very best talks. Let’s get together, watch the best LiveCode sessions of all time, learn what has changed and what has not, ask your questions to our experienced LiveCode developers, and have a good time doing it! We will run two sessions a week for the next three months.
