Mark will tell us a little about his work with the LiveCode engine over the past few months and where he envisions it going next. As always, prepare to be dazzled by the extraordinary things that go on behind the scenes and in the mind of our CTO.

About Mark Waddingham: Mark is the Director of Technology and the driving force behind every LiveCode release. He is intimately involved in planning and operations at LiveCode, with jobs ranging from coding the engine, planning future directions and working on backend infrastructure to supporting the LiveCode development team.

My Extended LC Family

There are upsides and downsides to having an extended LiveCode family.

On the positive side, the outpouring of support from our customers, old and new, during this campaign (Covid-19 LiveCode Impact Fund) has been cheering, encouraging, and heartwarming. On the negative side, I know so many of you personally, you’ve been with us for so many years, and I’m anxious for your welfare and that of your businesses. Covid-19 has hit everyone, everywhere, no-one is unaffected. I hear about businesses on a knife-edge, and my good friends either catching the virus themselves or having near and dear ones hospitalised. All I can say is – hang in there! We’ll get through this together.

It seems like the vast majority of you are riding out the storm, one way or another. Tech companies are resilient, and our customer base is made up of some amazing characters with determination and a vision for the future.

KidCode: Teaching Preschool Kids Code and English Together

Arguably, coding is the new literacy. How early should children start to learn coding? Can they learn it while they learn language itself? KidCode is a new app initiative which aims to teach just that. It uses LiveCode to simultaneously teach coding and English, and will shortly be launched in kindergartens in China. It is targeted at children from as young as 2 or 3 years old. The app is a collaboration between HHOTT and So-Easy International.
