Austrian Schoren High School succeeds in LiveCode Certification

For the first time in our school (perhaps even for the first time in Austria) programming language LiveCode was implemented in our programming curriculum (age group 15/16 years). With the help of the LiveCode company a programming certificate for educational purposes was created by LiveCode for our school fostering the idea of motivating students for coding.

After a fundamental introduction of programming with LiveCode every student should create their own simple LiveCode App and present it officially and voluntarily to selected IT teachers and classmates. On Wednesday, 12/05/21, presentations took place and 10 students (5 girls, 5 boys out of 23 students) introduced their own app in an official presentation.

The app topics concerned multimedia animations, small mathematical calculators, little and large quizzes and reproductions of sounds or text-to-speech tools. After their official presentations David Kraemer, Teo Lukenda, Adeline Oyugi, Viktorya Stepanyan, Melisa Ugur, Laurin Amann, Doene Demir, Musab Hamshari, Ola Hamshari and Arda Kilic proudly received their certificates.

Three teachers of the Schoren High School (Professor Astrid Amann – home room teacher, Professor Gebhard Steiner – Englisch teacher, Mario Wueschner – IT teacher) watched the presentations, half of the presentations even in English.

Our grammar school Schoren is highly satisfied with LiveCode. We used the open source Community edition, but we are planning to use LiveCode Indy in future. We see some great bonus of LiveCode in a perfect combination of ready-made GUI elements (for designing) and enormous possibilities to use and learn coding via scripting in LiveCode. Thanks to LiveCode for their great support and thanks for a perfect and easy-to-learn programming language.

This is wonderful! Exactly what we need to bolster the Livecode community. Great job, and I’m proud of the students! Any chance of seeing their app presentations? Please keep up the great work.

A wonderful story, and I am delighted to see students taking on the challenge of learning programming and Livecode in grammar school. I hope they will continue using it as their interests in programming expand. Congratulations also to the teachers, who developed it into a certificate program. Well done!!
