Widgets were Introduced

The first widget prototypes were launched in 2015 with a new tools pallette. You are able to drag on fully featured header bars, nav bars, iOS buttons, ticking clocks to name but a few.

New supported features

Mobile Camera Support, Mobile Sockets Support, Improved Clipboard Support were all added to LiveCode in 2015.

New features added by the community

In 2015 you opted to add some new features to LiveCode with the community Feature Exchange. Together we added Mac 64 bit support, PostgreSQL SSL support and most recently a new replace command. Way to go.

HTML5 was launched

2015 saw the addition of a new supported platform. HTML5 was added to LiveCode in August in a LiveCode DP release. No longer is LiveCode only for Desktop, Mobile & Server, it is now a truly multi-platform tool allowing you to create HTML5 web applications.

Things got flexible with LiveCode Builder

We introduced a powerful new compiled language which can be used to quickly and efficiently develop new controls and code libraries for use in LiveCode apps. You will hear a lot more about this in 2016.

New Browser Widget was added

Need a browser in your application? Just drag it out. This new widget was added to LiveCode in 2015, we used LiveCode Builder to make it. You can use LiveCode Builder to make your own widgets!

We saw a big boost in performance

As we continue to add new features and improve LiveCode we have had to keep a close eye on performance. LiveCode 7 was a big step forward for the engine but it was slower than LiveCode 6.7, we didn’t want the same to be true of LiveCode 8. LiveCode 8 is not only superior on features, but its a heck of a performer too and we are committed to performance in 2016.
