Video Vitalis – a LiveCode tool for virtual events

Bryan Anderson has been a media professional for over 20 years. His video work has mostly involved shooting, editing and creating motion graphics. One area he hadn’t crossed into was the world of live streaming. In 2020, as live events and conferences were forced into a virtual context, Bryan had to quickly apply his skills to this new modality. In July of 2020 he found himself for the first time producing portions of a live streamed conference with over 7000 attendees. To bring a higher production value to the event, he used a tool called MimoLive. MimoLive was perfect for such a large event, but for smaller meetings or online classes it was too complex and costly.
As we all were forced into a Zoom world, lots of little tools began to pop up to solve problems  and help make the experience less horrible. We all quickly became familiar with things like countdown clocks, timers, and telestrators. Screensharing a web browser or playing out a YouTube video became something everyone was doing…albeit with varying degrees of success. While tools like MimoLive, vMix, or OBS can do some or all of these things they can be daunting for a non-technical person. More tech savvy people turned to small switchers like the BlackMagic ATEM Mini line, but they still had a need for some of these vital graphic tools.
Desiring to bring all these little bits of tech together into an easy to use tool, Bryan turned to LiveCode…of course! In this session Bryan will show us Video Vitalis, an easy to use tool that he uses now for virtual meetings, classes, and training events.
