Merging with mergEXT

Today we are delighted to announce a very exciting acquisition for LiveCode: we have purchased the full suite of the invaluable mergEXT externals for iOS. These will shortly be included with your Indy or Business license purchase. We will also be hiring the well known creator of these externals and LiveCode Guru Monte Goulding, to work for us full time. Over time our team will work with Monte to turn them into integrated widgets that work across more platforms, in LiveCode 8.

A Richer iOS Experience

The mergEXT  suite includes 29 invaluable addons. Most of these are directed towards making your LiveCode iOS experience smoother, with a few also available on Android and/or desktop. As part of your Indy or Business license, you will now be able to download these and start using them in your own projects. Use the MapKit to add full featured maps, read barcodes with mergZXing, include advertising with mergBanner or connect to dropbox or social media using mergDropbox or mergSocial. Make your app Bluetooth accessible with mergBLE. All of the addons have full documentation making it a joy to use them in your app.

  • Faster app development
  • More iOS features smoothly supported
  • Easier to add the features you want
  • Extend the range of apps you can develop using LiveCode

mergExt includes the following LiveCode externals:

User Comments

mergEXT is a well known and highly valued set of externals, here are some of the things existing customers have to say about it:

“I STRONGLY recommend getting it… it really is an ESSENTIAL tool for iOS development, IMHO…” Ken Ray, Sons of Thunder Software, Inc.

“It is an entire quiver of arrows for iOS development. And it keeps getting better and better.” Jim Lambert – VP of Product Engineering at IPPLEX

“Great products and EXCELLENT support!” Charles Wright – President, The Data Company

Instant Widgets – Just Add 8

Our team will be getting to work to integrate all these externals as beautiful widgets in LiveCode 8. This will make it as simple as selecting the addon you want from your widgets palette, and dropping it into your app. A few customisations later and you have a new feature ready to go. Wherever it is possible or appropriate we will also look at making the widgets cross platform. We can’t wait to get started on this process!

Added Value

This huge list of 29 addons adds a pile of value to your commercial license. The total for each of these when they were purchased separately was over $1000. These are now being added free to every Indy and Business license. Over the course of the next year the best of these will become cross platform integrated widgets in LiveCode 8. You can lock in all of this value today for the current price of just $499/year. The value that we are adding here will be reflected in the pricing available in the coming months. This is just the start of our plans for the coming year, read all about it here.
