Navigator — the Interfacening: why adding functionality isn’t enough
If you build a feature and no one uses it, does it contribute value?
Clearly, no. I’ll go through some of the many features that I’ve added
interfaces for in Navigator, and describe how building the right interface
can not only make functionality more available to the user, but allow you
to improve functionality overall.
It’s Alive! Resurrecting Ancient Plugin Code and Embracing Changes to the IDE
Geoff has spent the past twenty years leading product and development teams. He likes working on interesting problems with curious people – probably why he loves LiveCode. His talk “ It’s Alive! Resurrecting Ancient Plugin Code and Embracing Changes to the IDE” is about his Navigator plugin for LiveCode. Geoff created Navigator over fourteen years ago, and largely stopped working on it about ten years ago. Recently, he’s picked it up and is working to clean up the code, fix bugs, and get it work efficiently with the many changes to LiveCode over the past decade. The talk will describe Navigator, discuss how to probe the IDE, and dig in to the work required to adapt to behaviors, script-only stacks, widgets, and more.
