Introducing our new LiveCode Official Partner for Education Ages 10-17

by Kevin Miller on November 16, 2021 No comments

Education is a vitally important part of what LiveCode offers. We believe there is no other environment available that measures up to what it can provide in an educational setting, especially for older children and young adults. To help students realise their full potential in this area, we have just signed up a new partner in education.

Tekkie Uni and LiveCode

I’m incredibly excited today to be able to introduce Tekkie Uni, our brand new LiveCode Official Partner for Education Ages 10-17. Tekkie Uni are a well established  educational content provider with an impressive pedigree, running a phenomenal series of online courses to teach App Development for Kids. This entire course is based on LiveCode and is available at three levels. Unlike many other online training courses, Tekkie Uni teach students in small classes with a live teacher in each and every class. Tekkie Uni also offer online teacher training courses and licensed curriculum materials for schools. We’re delighted to be able to offer both the online App Development courses and the teacher training and curriculum materials to you on behalf of Tekkie Uni.

The Winds of Change

by Kevin Miller on November 5, 2021 11 comments

I’m delighted to be able to report back on more of what we have planned for LiveCode 10. Recent changes at LiveCode have meant that we have been able to scale up our LiveCode development team. New engineers will be moving to or joining that team from next week and give us the biggest team we’ve ever had working on LiveCode in our 20 year history. We’re all super excited about what this means for the LiveCode platform.

How I built a Mobile App in LiveCode and Took Over the World

by Alan Green on February 12, 2021 15 comments

I’ve had an idea for an app for a few years now, and made one or two abortive attempts at writing it.  I’d get so far, maybe put a few screen mock-ups together, write a bit of code, run into some walls like “How would do I do this?” or “How would that work?”, and then with the daily grind, family responsibilities and life in general, I’d run out of steam and give up.

The Pandemic – a Positive?

Now you wouldn’t think that a pandemic could have a positive and beneficial effect, but oddly enough it did.  I think people in general re-evaluated their work, their lives and their priorities.  Many of us started working from home, which might have its frustrations, but also its benefits. Personally, I gained by not having a 1 hour commute each morning and each evening, and this, amongst other things, gave me the breathing space and clarity to re-start my app development.
